Growing Your Business with an Extra Pair of Hands

Creative Leadership have today launched their new Essential Recruitment Package for Small Businesses.  It’s aimed at helping busy entrepreneurs save time and effort in finding and securing the best talent for their growing business and avoid recruitment costs.

The package, which starts from £199 + VAT includes a bespoke application form, tailored job description, advertising, CV response handling, interview help and offer management, depending on what your business needs.

Speaking about the Essential Recruitment Package, Michelle Fischer, Managing Director of Creative Leadership said: “Given the recent recession, it’s really encouraging to see more and more local businesses coming to us for help with their recruitment and growing their businesses.  For many, it’s the first recruitment they’ve done and so they want to be sure they get it right and also that they don’t waste money advertising in the wrong place. ”

One of these was The Media Bus, a digital training business, who approached Creative Leadership to manage the people side of their business, including Recruitment, when they launched in November 2009.  Darren Nicholson, Managing Director said: “Creative Leadership made our recruitment and staffing matters so easy.  They ran the recruitment for all our roles and the assistance and support that they have given to the company has been first rate and worth every penny.  I would recommend their services to anyone looking for Recruitment and HR Guidance and Support”

Meanwhile, Angela Rowely of AV8Jet, a local Corporate Jet business said “We asked Creative Leadership to help us source the latest addition to our small team in June 2010.  They met with us and helped us immediately with recommendations of where to advertise and how to go about short-listing.  We had a brilliant response to our advert and Creative Leadership helped us to manage the applications and respond to all our applicants.  When it came to interviewing, their Essential Guide to Interviewing was really helpful.  Through the process I was really struck by their professionalism and attention to detail.”

Introducing Love Balls

7 01 2010

No you haven’t read that incorrectly, I really am blogging about Love Balls. However all is not what it might seem.  This is a topic that really is very close to my heart and has touched so many lives.

Sadly in Oct 2008 my father was diagnosed with advanced stage Prostate Cancer. This was a real shock to my family and I, as dad (who’s only 64) has always been healthy and lived a very wholesome life. With medicine the way it is we’re thrilled with how well he’s doing and responding to the hormone treatment he’s on. Modern medicine really is an amazing thing and we’ve received phenomenal support from our local NHS and doctors surgery.

Cutting a long story short, this has spurred me on to want to do three things:

  • Promote awareness and increase education of male cancer
  • Help raise funds to fund more research and find a cure
  • Lobby the powers that be to introduce screening for male cancer in the UK

And how could I do that? Certainly not alone that’s for sure, which is partly why I’m blogging about this.

Two ladies and fellow business associates Emma James of Tasty Marketing and Anne Orchard of Families Facing Cancer, whose lives have also been affected by C word, got to talking late summer 09 and came up with the idea of running an event to do exactly that.

Introducing Love Balls
With this in mind we’re running an event which I’d hope you can come along to or support in some way.

It’s on 19th February at Bournemouth Football Club from 7.30 – 11.30 and is in aid of Orchid Cancer – the Male Cancer Charity.   Tickets cost £22 or £190 for a table of 10 and are available to purchase now from me. You can also see more about the event on the Facebook page we’ve created here

Love Balls Facebook Page

We’re thrilled that the founder of Orchid, Colin Osbourne, himself a former sufferer of testicular cancer, is able to attend the event. He was appointed for an MBE in the last honours list for his services to charity and his attendance and support is brilliant!!

The evening itself will be an informal affair. Yes there will be lots of opportunity for you to network and we’d love you to dress to impress if you like, but equally formalwear is perfectly suitable too. On the night you can expect plenty of dancing and great food, plus the chance to contribute towards raising funds for such a good cause with an auction and raffle too.

How can you Contribute?
There are lots of ways you can contribute, even if you aren’t local to us in Bournemouth:

  • Buy a ticket/tickets – we’d welcome teams as well as individuals!
  • Help us achieve our goal of awareness/funds and screening by forwarding this email to your address book and any other way you can?
  • Post the attached poster up at your work/on your website etc
  • Donate a raffle/auction prize
  • Sponsor the event in some way – more details on this to follow
  • Donate ££ if you can’t attend or donate a raffle/auction prize

We’ll happily field more ideas if you can come up with anything we haven’t thought of?  One such idea has just come in and I’m delighted that Bill Boorman has confirmed that the Recruitment Unconference will be supporting this event.  They’ll be helping to raise funds too at a silent auction held at their Curry Tweet Up on 18th Feb .  Thanks Bill!

Why “Love Balls”?
Yes we know the name is a little risqué and we certainly don’t mean to offend, however it struck us that part of the problem with men getting diagnosed is the embarrassment factor. So many men hide when they see problems down below. As our event is held close to Valentines day and we’re holding it at AFC Bournemouth Football Club, we kind of figured the name was a must!

Did you know?
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. It affects 35,000 people and families every year in the UK and there are 10,000 deaths each year – that’s one man every hour. But Male cancer is not simply confined to the more mature man as is commonly believed, Testicular cancer is the most common cancer for men aged 15-45; and each year around 2,000 young men are diagnosed and face the emotional and physical trauma of fighting this disease.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.  The more we all do, the better this will be and the more likely it will be to help others.

Creative Leadership contributes to The HR Carnival

6 01 2010

Just a quickie as I thought you’d be interested to see our write up and contribution to The HR Carnival that’s currently underway.  Day 6 and already so many key influencers in the world of Social Recruiting, HR and Talent Management have contributed.  Well done to those involved with setting it up!

New year plans and projects.

5 01 2010

First things first I want to wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2010!  A new decade eh!   What will this one bring?

From talking to people and observing the chitter chatter on various Social Media sites, many of you have been spending time writing out your strategies and vision statements for the coming year and I hope you’re already enjoying putting these into practise.

I must say, it amuses me that so many people have “resolutions” for the new year and I’ve lost count of the number of facebook status updates talking about how people have already failed to achieve their new year promise.  A question…why is it we rely so heavily on December 31st to decide on a new way of life?  What if you decided to do something differently every month?

I digress.

I have spent the past few weeks without internet at home due to an early Xmas present from my telco provider (now thankfully resolved) and it got me to experimenting with my Mac and discovering the webcam facility!  So Talent Management Matters, the Creative Leadership is now with added personality.  Check out our latest VLog – that’s ‘video blog’…I never imagined using that word even only 3 months ago!

So what does this year hold in store for Creative Leadership?  Well we hope more of the same and that we can continue to help more businesses with their HR and Talent Management strategies in 2010, although it would be good for the soul if there were more resourcing activities than redundancy initiatives please…

We’ve added 3 new products to the spectrum including:

  • Outsourced HR Services
  • Leadership Coaching
  • Social Media and Recruitment

If you know of a business that you think would benefit from these services, then please pass our details on. We’d be glad to help

I leave you with the BBCs word cloud for 2010.

Happy New Year!

Creative Leadership – Herding Sheep the extreme way

28 11 2009

I was on a leadership coaching course this week and saw this amazing video c/o You Tube.  It goes to show what having a vision, creativity and effort can create…Oh and a little bit of technology…Reminds me a bit of social media.

Social Media & Recruitment Questionnaire

17 11 2009

It’s no surprise that the way we communicate with people is changing.  Some call it the Communication Revolution and it’s characterised largely by the use of Web 2.0 technology and websites such as Linked In and Facebook, otherwise known as Social Media.

With this in mind, Linda Parkinson-Hardman of Grow a Better Business, and I, Michelle Fischer of Creative Leadership, invite you to complete the attached questionnaire about your use of Social Media when Recruiting.

We have set a closing date for completion of this of Friday 18th December 2009.

The results of this research will be used to produce a White Paper that explores the key trends and themes around this topical subject and we’d be thrilled to share this with you.  Please indicate your interest in this at the end of the questionnaire.

Needless to say, the more participants involved the better and we invite you also to forward this link to people you think would benefit from taking part and the research findings themselves.  We are pleased to offer a prize of a bottle of Frances’ finest champagne to one of the lucky participants who will be chosen at random at the conclusion of this research.

We’d like to thank you in advance for sparing the time to contribute to this research project.

Best wishes

Michelle Fischer
